We know that privacy is a major concern and are committed to safeguarding your privacy online. This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you use our website. It is all in line with current data laws.

What information do we collect about you? 

We collect information about you when you register for our database, book with us, or purchase gift cards. We also collect information when you voluntarily complete surveys, provide feedback and participate in competitions. Website usage information is collected using cookies. 

How will we use the information about you? 

Information provided to us will be used for marketing purposes. We collect information about you to reserve your table or provide you with a gift card or loyalty card, and, if you agree, to email you about offers and events we think may be of interest to you. Bitter & Twisted will not share your information.

In reserving a table, your details will automatically be provided to LiveRES Marketing Limited, who may use your information to contact you about your upcoming booking, and request feedback.

Marketing

We would like to send you information about offers and events of ours which may be of interest to you. If you have consented to receive marketing, you may opt out at a later date. You have a right at any time to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes. Access to your information and correction 

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. We may charge for this service. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.

CCTV

Bitter & Twisted is monitored in compliance with the terms of its premises license issued by West Oxfordshire District Council.

Prominently positioned signs are displayed within the premises notifying you that CCTV is in operation. Cameras are not sited to focus on private residential areas. The external cameras are solely for the purpose of monitoring entrances.

The CCTV system is operational and is capable of being monitored for 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Bitter & Twisted complies with the General Data Protection Regulation in relation to CCTV footage. Due regard will be given to the data protection principles contained within Article 5 of the GDPR which provide that personal data shall be:

  • • Processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner;
  • • Collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes and not further processed in a manner that is incompatible with those purposes;
  • • Adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed;
  • • Accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date;
  • • Kept in a form which permits identification of the data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data are processed;
  • • Processed in a manner that ensures appropriate security of the personal data, including protection against unauthorized or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage, using appropriate technical or organizational measures.

 

  1. 1. Applications by individual data subjects

 Requests by individual data subjects for images relating to themselves “Subject Access Request” should be submitted in writing, along with proof of identification to the following address -  Bitter & Twisted, 1a Middle Row, Chipping Norton, OX7 5NH. We may charge for this service.

In order to locate the images on the system, sufficient detail must be provided by the data subject in order to allow the relevant images to be located and the data subject to be identified.

Where Bitter & Twisted is unable to comply with a Subject Access Request without disclosing the personal data of another individual who is identified or identifiable from that information, it is not obliged to comply with the request unless satisfied that the individual has provided their express consent to the disclosure, or if it is reasonable, having regard to the circumstances, to comply without the consent of the individual.

  1. 2. Access to and disclosure of images to third parties

A request for images made by a third party should be made in writing to the following address -  Bitter & Twisted, 1a Middle Row, Chipping Norton, OX7 5NH. We may charge for this service.

In limited circumstances it may be appropriate to disclose images to a third party, such as when a disclosure is required by law, in relation to the prevention or detection of crime or in other circumstances where an exemption applies under relevant legislation.

Such disclosures will be made at the discretion of Bitter & Twisted, with reference to relevant legislation and where necessary, following legal advice.

Where a suspicion of misconduct arises CCTV images may be used for use in staff disciplinary cases.

A record of any disclosure made under this policy will be held on record, itemising the date, time, camera, requestor, authoriser and reason for the disclosure.

  1. 3. Retention of images

Unless required for evidential purposes, the investigation of an offence or as required by law, CCTV images will be retained for no longer than 30 days from the date of recording. Images will be automatically overwritten after this point.

Images held in excess of their retention period will be reviewed on a three monthly basis and any not required for evidential purposes will be deleted.

Access to retained CCTV images is restricted to the management at Bitter & Twisted.

  1. 4. Complaints procedure

  1. 5. Monitoring Compliance

All staff involved in the operation of the CCTV System will be made aware of this policy and will only be authorised to use the CCTV System in a way that is consistent with the purposes and procedures contained therein.
